RESUMO

The morphological characteristics of the dispersal units remain remarkably constant under varying environmental conditions and they may be used as suitable criteria for the taxonomical indentification of the species, as well as the whole plants do. The association of the morphological characteristics of the dispersal units, with the position, the shape, the type and the size of the embryo in relation to the storage tissue, permits a clear taxonomical diagnostic at level of species. The same identification is possible through the morphological characteristics of the seedlings. The objective of this work referred to the morphological characterization of the seedlings and the anatomical and morphological characterization of the dispersal units of 155 weed species, belonging to 23 different families, that will permit a clear taxonomical differentiation among them. A general description of the seedlings and the dispersal units, of each family an the description of each of the studied species, were carried out. There are presented illustrations and one taxonomical key in order to help the identification of the weed seeds. For each species there were included the common names and, whenever as possible, a description of the fruit, life cycle, type of reproduction and dissemination, the quantity of the dispersal units produced by plant and the time that they can maintain the germination in the soil, geographical distribution an other informations, such as the crop in which the species in considered as a weed, and the agricultural seeds in which the dispersal unit is found as a weed seed.
