RESUMO

The integration of management system is treated in the literature rather as question of a standard alignment. The integration of management systems, however, should not be limited to alignment only. There is no consensus in the literature concerning what management system integration actually is, as some authors understand integration as being the standard alignment of Management System; while others, without disagreeing on the importance of alignment, incorporate others elements such as the human factor. No reference to the use of a mathematical approach was found in the literature. This work presents a definition of management system integration based on General Theory System and Set Theory to complement and amplify what has already been researched. The number of standard management systems is continuously increasing, with Quality in top place, followed by Environmental. There is a tendency to increase the management systems within organizations, creating redundancies among activities of isolated systems and generating costs that could be avoided when these management systems are integrated. A gap in the literature can still be observed between the decision-making moment to adopt an Integrated Management System and its implementation. The present work, of epistemological character, proposes a systemic approach to stage prior to the implementation, that is, the phase of viability study and project elaboration. Once the concept of management system integration has been developed, in light of standards alignment, human resources and complying with an Integrated System of Management within General System Theory, a Mathematics Program is applied for integration of human resources. The activities of the systems with their inputs, outputs, processors and couplings, were applied analogously to an electrical circuit diagram, facilitating the visualization and study of systems integration. The proposed model to integrate management system was applied to an organization in the electrical energy sector showing its viability in the optimization resources
