RESUMO

Within this new search for unitização logistics of the process, there is the figure of the Multimodal Transport Operator (OTM). This new category allows for a single company be responsible for the whole chain of transport, under the security of a single documentation (CTMC), even if the load using various modes of transport. In Brazil, specific legislation for multimodal transport operators, was created in April 2000 by the law of nr. 9.611/98. The thesis aims to show through research, and facts which the real reasons this model operational and what the current status of this law the applicability in the process of the main logistical current national companies. At the end propose solutions or ideas so that the operator can multimodal enlarge their performances in Brazil.
