RESUMO

The present work is mainly concerned on the adaptation and integration of a Design Support System with a Control Expert System and on a Local Network Knowledge Basis composition, in order to structure the specifications determination and design modules into a LAN Design Support System, named Actual System. This System is part of a Global System, which is being developed at UNICAMP, intended to support the application of a integrated methodology for planning, design and implementation of computers networks. Concepts and definitions related to computers networks, with emphasis to local networks, and to expert systems are presented, together with the steps taken in the construction of the rules basis, in the Actual System implementation and an overview on future developments. A real LAN is specified to the Cla. Aços Especiais Itabira ACESITA steelworks area an application example, and compared with three other suppliers proposals.
