Um novo olhar sobre a compreensão oral : Os mecanismos subjacentes ao ensino da compreensão oral segundo o enfoque da Abordagem Comunicativa

RESUMO

The focus of this dissertation is to show a new view on oral comprehension as well as to show teachers and researchers its new concept based on the communicative approach principles. Oral comprehension is an ability which challenges students and teachers during the teaching learning process of a foreign language learning. Our research aims at identifying the factors presented in the oral comprehension in formal teaching context among advanced level students. In order to guide our study, we built up a configuration of the mechanisms related to oral comprehension. We found out in these mechanisms five different situations: the students, the teachers, the books, the audio-visual aids and the native speakers. With these elements, we aim at identifying which perceptions students have in dealing with the difficuties in understanding a speech and which tools are used in the classroom in favor of the students oral comprehension development.Therefore, for the purpose of our study, we made our research in different contexts, but within the same period of time. The data have been collected through procedures based on ethnographic research, such as: observation, class recording, questionnaires and interviews. The results have shown evidences that there exists a certain variation regarding the development of the oral comprehension in the different situations studied. These results also led us to the conclusion that there are specific aspects involved in each situation and that there is a great complexity concerning the oral comprehension development in foreign language teaching.
