RESUMO

Quality has become a critical competitive factor for success of companies, including software development ones. Many researches have been done intending to develop methodologies, tools and models which contribute to better software products quality. Recently, studies have been made to understand how people s nature and social factors may contribute to better software development projects quality. Among the many facets of the studies about human factors in software development, those about how behavior acts on functional roles in software development outstand. This research investigates the relation between functional needs for Software Quality Assurance (SQA) and personality and behavioral characteristics of professionals in this area in the software development companies. This investigation considers the relationships between the evolution of the Software Quality Assurance area and the process maturity level of the companies according to process maturity models. This research presents evidences about what behavioral profiles have better relation to SQA, discovering characteristics which contribute positively to SQA work. Furthermore, the evolution of SQA area is characterized in parallel to process maturity levels of the companies according to process maturity models
