RESUMO
This dissertation had as objective to study the construction and use of the native identity enters the inhabitants of the island of Fernando De Noronha, by means of the inquiry of the social conflicts, in a context marked for the ambiguity of criteria of use of the territory. Important place as unit of conservation and as tourist polar region of the elite, the Archipelago also is inhabited by inhabitants whose origin retraces to the time where the island was federal penitentiary and quarter, and that today they dispute with the new inhabitants - haoles - the legitimacyin the use of the spaces and the monopoly of the tourist exploration
