RESUMO
The research Tribunais de Contas: a visão da mídia impressa investigates the Press discourse about the way of choosing members of those institutions, with the main intention of observing the identities formed in that discourse. I am analysing texts published in several daily newspapers, during the period of 2000/2001 and 2003/2004, and in a especialized monthly magazine. To verify the possible social impact of these publications, I chose as basis for this work the Critical Discourse Analysis, mainly in Fairclough (1995a, 2001 and 2003), and the Midia Social Theory in Thompson (2002a and 2002b) and Fairclough (1995b). Ideological aspects were observed in Althusser (2001), van Dijk (1993, 1996 and 2001) and Thompson (2002a). The concept of identities was brought about according to Hall (2003), van Dijk (2001) and Silva (2002). The analysis allowed the verification that most of the discourse of the Press is ideological. And although in an explicit way the discourse of the Mídia is one of resistency and of change of the status quo, mainly regarding to the way the members of TCU are chosen, the words used and the choice of participants contributes to the perpetuation of the same status of unbalanced power in society.
