Tres decadas de pesquisa em educação matematica na UNICAMP : um estudo historico a partir de teses e dissertações

RESUMO

This historical study recovers and describes the constitution and the academic research movement on Mathematical Education of Campinas State University. The material of analysis and main references was constituted by 188 thesis and dissertations related to Mathematical Education which were produced from 1976 to July 2003. The study is characterized by the exploratory and historical-bibliographic methodologies, getting closer to the model called ?state of the art? of the academic research on Mathematical Education of Unicamp. The general mapping of all the production was developed based on the abstract of each research. Two important moments of Mathematical Education in the trajectory of Campinas State University can be highlighted: the implementation of the post-graduation course in Science and Mathematical Teaching in the institute called ?Instituto de Matemática, Estatística e Computação Científica? (IMECC) of Unicamp, at the end of the 70?s and the beginning of the 80?s, when the first Master in Science and Mathematical Teaching took place; the consolidation, in 1994, of Mathematical Education as a concentration area of the post-graduation in Education (master and doctorate) of FE/Unicamp. The results reveal a research panorama in ten different thematic axes. During the 70?s and 80?s the studies were related to the mathematical learning methodology and didactic materials, some of them emphasizing the in-service teaching training and teacher education. From 1990 on, the studies associate three themes: (1) Psychology in Mathematical Education (attitudes, learning and conceptual, cognitive and ability development); (2) pedagogical practice of mathematical lessons and/or mathematical teacher education; and (3) history, philosophy, epistemology and culture (etnomathematics) of/in mathematical education
