RESUMO

(Composition of climbers in seasonal semideciduous forest fragments - Paraná State, Brazil). Climber plants are highly represented in tropical forests and hold a great ecological importance, apart from being one of the fundamental characteristics that differentiate tropical forests from temperate ones. The present work announces the climber species from Mata São Pedro (MSP), located in Lupionópolis/Paraná State, and from Estação Caiuá Ecological (EEC), located in Diamante do Norte/Paraná State. Both areas are classified as submontane seasonal semideciduous forests (SSF) and are situated by the Paranapanema River. At MSP, the findings came to 24 families, 51 genus and 69 species. At EEC, the findings came to 17 families, 45 genus and 53 species. The richest families from MSP and EEC make, respectively, 63% and 57% from all species. According to other researchers, the dendrogram analysis showed that the similarity amongst SSFs and between SSFs and areas of Atlantic rainforest is generally low, but there were groupings of areas of Atlantic rainforest and SSFs from Paraná and São Paulo States. In both MSP and EEC, there were more lianas than herbaceous climbers. Considering the climbing strategy, there is more diversity of climbers with tendrils at MSP, than the voluble and scandent ones, while at EEC, the voluble climbers are more diverse, followed by the ones with tendrils and the scandents.
