RESUMO
In this experimental study, it was evaluated the use of equine and swine pericardium preserved in glycerin 98% in the repair of surgically provoked tracheal lesions in dogs. The animals were devided in two groups, with ten dogs each, one group treated with equine pericardium and the other with swine pericardium. After twelve hours of water and food restraint, the animals were anesthetized and tubed. It was performed the incision on the cervical region of the trachea and after its exposition, one third of three tracheal rings have been removed partially. The repair of the lesions was obtained through the replacement with an equine or swine pericardium scrap, according to the group. The post-surgery follow up was accomplished through clinical evaluation, laboratorials analyses and histopatologicals exams. The post-surgery results indicated that the tracheal repair in dogs with equine pericardium revealed to be an alternative in the traqueoplasty in dogs.
