RESUMO

This work aims to analyze and compare the production structure of the Southern Region and the Rest of Brazil. To achieve the objectives has been used the system input-output inter-regional of three southern states and the Rest of Brazil for the years 1999 and 2004, shared with the information contained in the National Household Sample Survey (PNAD) for 1999, 2004 and 2008. The study used sectors aggregation techniques, multipliers, Rasmussen index. \H irschman index, pure connection index, sphere of influence and the method of Shift-Share where is possible to analyze and identify the regional and sectorial dynamics in the periods. The results showed a greater overflow effect in the sense of the Southern States for the Rest of Brazil and also the increased dependence of these states in relation to the Rest of Brazil higher than among the states in the South Region. The main changes regarding the increase in production, jobs and wages in the period were to sectors; transport equipment, wood and furniture and Communications in the four regions. The sectors, mining, transport equipment and pulp, paper and printing were identified as absorbers and creators of new jobs in 2004 compared to 1999. In the results were also observed, macro drop in the share of Agriculture and Services sectors in the regions. The states of Paraná, Santa Catarina and the Rest of Brazil, fell multipliers wages in formal and informal categories for most sectors, but not in Rio Grande do Sul. The largest employment multipliers for both formal and informal category were for industry-related sectors. The results obtained from the shift-share method identified sectoral shifts in theoretical variation of Paraná for Trade and Building sectors, in Santa Catarina Agricultural and building, Textile and Clothing and Trade, on the other hand, at Rio Grande do Sul the main sectors were Agriculture and Building. Regarding the local advantages, the Agricultural, Food Industry and Trade stood out in Parana, Santa Catarina, the transport sector and public administration and at Rio Grande do Sul, Agriculture, Transport Equipment, Manufacture of footwear and food industry.
