RESUMO

The Burnout Syndrome (BS), considered a great impact in the 21st century workers health, is a complex and multidimensional phenomenon resulting from the interaction between individual aspects and the work environment, interpreted as an answer to the chronic work stress. The nursing teacher presents twice as much sources of stress in both areas: Health and Education. For his effective performance, he is devoted to an indispensable function for the continuity of the profession of the whole nursing team. BS can result in damages to himself, to the student, to the patient, to the organizations and the community in general. The present study has the objective to identify and analyze the causes of the nursing teachers professional stress, as well as evaluating the Burnout Syndrome in a sample of nursing teachers from a nursing technical school of a State Technological Education Center of the State of São Paulo, through MBI-ES (Maslach Burnout Inventory - educators survey). This research of quantitative and qualitative character was based on a descriptive, exploratory and analytical study. The collection of data was divided in two parts. In the first part, aiming to outline the profile of the researched group, their life habits and data related to the area of professional activity, we elaborated a semi-structured interview and applied the inventory recognized all over the world, validated and adapted in Brazil, the MBI-ES, specific for teachers. In the second part of this study, we collected data from nursing teachers of a School Unit of Technical Teaching in Nursing, through open questions. By the quantitative method, it was observed that 3,1% presented BS; 15,3% in high risk, 38,5% in medium risk and 43,1% in low risk of acquiring BS. Concerning dimensions, medium and low level of EE (emotional exhaustion) and DE (depersonalization) were observed, in which 18,5% had high scores in the EE dimension and 16,9% in the DE dimension. However, in the EP dimension (personal accomplishment at work), there were 43,1% of low level, indicating this is the most outstanding dimension, since it has been analyzed in an inverted way. The qualitative method based on the survey of the stress sources as determinant of external and internal order in the classroom, in the supervision of the practice and in the interpersonal relationship, has indicated obstacles derived from personal and situational subjects that if not transformed in challenges, regarding individual and collective level, can lead to health problems. The teachers satisfaction and dissatisfaction was analyzed, indicating the concern about the pedagogical aspects, the teachers pleasure and displeasure, the presence or lack of commitment creating adversities to the social-organizational system, the everyday school life relating the teacher and the student. The efforts here undertaken intend to encourage and support the excellence in teaching, stimulate and improve the school organizational environment concerning teachers work, in order to accomplish condition and source of pleasure at work to maintain certain balancing in demand, competency and work conditions and to eliminate the lack of pleasure at work, seeking admiration for teaching, denaturalized by the Burnout Syndrome, its antecedent and consequent.
