RESUMO

This study intends to present a contemplation about the productive reestructuration effects in the Social Service work market on the municipal district of Volta Redonda. This studys object was rebuild from the sight that work market has been suffering the effects of this changes, which are occuring in the economic, political, social and ideological circle, in worldwide level, since the middle of the 70s, decade that end up eroding the basis of the social sustentation model on the post- war the Fordism/Keynesianism until then current. Therefore, we observe that capitalism has been producing ways of productive reestructuration, linked with the technological advance and the neoliberal project that affects directly the work world, pointing meaning changes on the relationship and conditions of work in several professions, including Social Service. To reflect about Social Service included on the social transformations, we assume that the office articulates itself to specific historical conditions, in which work process are accomplished, pointing changes in relations and conditions of work, and also, on life of people who utilizes its services. The inflections of changes in Social Service work market on the contexture of productive reestructuration are identified based on a research on which took part social assistants who work in public and private institutions on the municipal district of Volta Redonda, State of Rio de Janeiro. The research used as instruments for data collection the semi-structured questionnaire, which combines open and closed questions, prepared in accordance with the objectives in this study. The data that formed the basis for the analysis were obtained between the months of July to September 2007. Research about the work market on this reality showed that Social Service has increased absorption of their workforce in the public sector, a condition that legitimises it as a profession institutionalized until today. But, also, shows that the work market comes under the direct effects of changes taking place in Brazilian society, through the elimination and/or reduction of jobs in the public and private areas, and through flexibility of work relations, confirming the central assumption that guided the study.
