THE RELATIVE CAREGIVER IN THE CARE TO THE HOSPITALIZED ADULT IN THE PERSPECTIVE OF THE NURSING TEAM / O FAMILIAR ACOMPANHANTE NO CUIDADO AO ADULTO HOSPITALIZADO NA PERSPECTIVA DA EQUIPE DE ENFERMAGEM

RESUMO

Its known that the increase of chronic-degenerative diseases prolongs the hospitalization time of patients, and the cares with their health require the preparation and qualification of the familiar for the home care. Therefore, the insertion of the relative caregiver in the care to the hospitalized sick person becomes each more frequent and necessary. Within this approach, the objectives of this study are: to describe and to analyze the insertion of the relative caregiver in the cares to the hospitalized adult, in the view of the nursing team, and to discuss the importance of his insertion for the hospital nursing care. This is a qualitative research, conducted in the Medical Clinic Unit II, at University Hospital of Santa Maria, with the participation of 14 members of the nursing team. For the production of the data, it was used the Creative and Sensitive Method (CSM) and the dynamics of creativity and sensitivity: the Tree of Knowledge, Sewing Stories and Almanac. It was used, for data analysis, some assumptions of French Discourse Analysis. Thus, the data were organized in two chapters: the first approaches the facilities and the difficulties in the insertion of the relative caregiver in the cares to the adult, from the perspective of the nursing staff. The first chapter presents the following themes and subthemes: the indispensable presence of the companion; the relative caregiver, as a support for the patient; the care, attention and comfort, as ways of taking care; the companions contribution in the cares; aspects related to the companions singularity; the lack of involvement of the companion; the uncertainty of the companion during the hospitalization of the sick person. The second chapter discusses the implications for nursing care in the insertion of the relative caregiver which are presented with the following themes: the relative caregiver getting capacitation for home care, the formation of support networks among the companions during hospitalization; and the burden of the relative caregiver. The data showed that the nursing team considered the relative caregiver a partner in care activities and his presence is valued and considered a form of care. It was also found that the companions seek to prepare themselves, during hospitalization, to home care and seek support in the people closest.
