RESUMO

This study aimed to analyze the meanings of Professional education for young people career from Youth Inclusion National Program (ProJovem Urbano) in Rio de Janeiro city. To this end, we developed a qualitative research with young residents of Costa Barros and Rocinha neighborhoods who attended this program between 2005 and 2010. During the fieldwork we conducted semistructured interviews with nine young people, in which we seek to listen them about the period they done ProJovem Urbano, especially in terms of their qualification process. The analysis of material obtained allowed us to realize that the program is showed to our respondents, as a possible completion of basic education (elementary school). However, with regard to professional qualifications offered the same seems to show a mismatch between what is proposed and what is put in practice. Even though a mark of professional initiation, what young people show us that they are different problems that undermines the progress of qualifying classes, compromising the desired qualification.
