RESUMO

The proposal of this work is to trace a panorama of the Brazilian critical social context from the reality of the young population of Sao Paulo metropolitan area (SPMA). More specifically, to develop - under the optics of the social economics consequences of the crisis of the Brazilian State and the adopted macroeconomic politics - important aspects of the reality of a deriving youthful population of the working urban mass population, that lives in the outskirts of SPMA, without perspective of decent job and no stimulation to study being discriminated because of the skin color and their poverty. The reality that supports extremities of basic social lacks and the desire to consume the modern symbols of youth, that had been born and grown in the periphery of SPMA, many times in contact with the daily violence and having the drugs as possibility of escaping and, eventually, fast monetary profits. Thus, we start from the approach of the economic development model extremely unequal inaugurated in the early 90?s, outstanding the Brazilian State crisis and the role of the macroeconomic politics as determinative points for the view of the brutal social crisis that currently is observed. In this context, the gravity and the depth of this complex social crisis are explicit by the analysis on the situation of the youth labor market, along with the qualitative analysis on the basics educational system and important aspects related to the violence in the urban scene of SPMA. The proposal to include the Hip Hop movement in this work came from the desire to bring out the point of view of the youth that daily lives this social crisis. A cultural movement that puts in evidence important questions of the tensions and contradictions of the urban public scene of the SPMA. The Hip Hop testifies the social violence suffered by the young inhabitants from slum and peripheries. It tells the violence of the stereotypes that have been imputed to them, tells the police violence, bad working conditions, the unemployment, the broken families, etc., elaborating a relevant x-ray of the social problematic made by its on protagonists. This movement, born in the streets of New York and absorbed by the young inhabitants of the periphery of the SPMA still in the 80?s, through its artistic expressions, also constructs possibilities and positive perspectives of life for many young people. And while denouncing and criticizing the social crisis, brings out new elements for the academic debate and a positive point of view for a more current proposal to rethink Brazil
