RESUMO

Territory, identity and social development are issues that represent the pith of all the theoretical ideas developed during this research. And for this, several authors, thinkers and contemporary philosophers and the history of human thought contributed significantly to establish the necessary conceptual approaches to the subject matter, the neighborhood of Engenho Velho da Federação. Therefore, it is not a disciplinary work, but multi-inter-disciplinary, wich favors the development of a holistic and systemic understanding of reality. The work is comprised of six chapters, wich deal, first, the origin/formation of district, through the teoretical and conceptual notions, in wich the thematic dialogues between the object of the dissertation. Finally, the remaining chapters are reserved for the deepening of all thoughts proposed in this paper, the reflective analysis of the conceptual trihalides applied for the post. The data and information collected, in locus, both through visits and interviews (as script previously prepared), as the result of four hundred questionnaires that were applied to residentes of the neighborhood (this questionnaire consists of twenty objective questions, wich deal since aspects of consolidation of the territory, identity formation, to the variables related to social development), are set in all development of this work. This information was then tabulats/quantified and presented em forms of graphics and tables, wich provided a perfect aliance between the set theory and the prevailing situation.
