RESUMO

The standard enthalpy change (DRH) for the reaction: MCl2 (s) + 2TPPO (s) = MCl2 . 2TPPO (s); DRH (M = Zn, Cd and Hg (II), TPPO = triphenylphosphineoxide), was measured by using solution calorimetry. The standard enthalpy change due to the sublimation of TPPO (DsH). Was also measured. By using these data together with others found in the literature, it was possible to calculate DcH and DMH namely MCl2 . 2TPPO (s) = M(g) + 2Cl (g) + 2TPPO (g); DcH MCl2 . 2TPPO (s) = MCl2 (g) + 2TPPO (g); DMH as well as the standard enthalpy of formation DfH for these adducts. From the mass spectra and the curves of DTA and TG it was observed that these adducts seemingly do not exist in appreciable amounts, except in the solid state. The mutual relations between the thermochemical and spectroscopic data are discussed.
