RESUMO

The debate concerning digital inclusion at public schools lately has focused not only on the schools structure, but mainly on the ways of using Information and Communication Technology . The present work aims to analyze how those well prepared schools in terms of structure and equipment are implementing digital inclusion programs. More specifically, it tried to understand the elements that determine the success of computer rooms at schools. In order to do so we studied three schools from the Gerência de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia Education, Science and Technology Management in Blumenau/ SC that obey the following criteria: having computer rooms of the Programa Nacional de Informática na Educação (ProInfo) - National Program of Informatics in Education ; having internet connection at Fundação de Apoio à Pesquisa Científica e Tecnológica de Santa Catarina (FAPESC) Supporting Foundation in Scientific and Techlogical Research in Santa Catarina; having been created after November 2000. We analyzed the pedagogical projects concerning the computer rooms, we made interviews with managers and teachers, and also we observed some classes. The theoretical base that conducts our discussions has as main reference Lévy (1999), Castells(1999, 2003), Bermann(1986), Echeverría(2000), Faoro(1994), Frigotto(1995, 2001) who, among others have studied about technology, society and school. Both bibliography and school visits have indicated that the main elements for the creation of computer rooms are the relationship between school community and knowledge through cooperation and construction; and the participation and involvement of those people in the management of computer rooms through group work and autonomy of managers, teachers and students. There is a direct relation between the presence of such factors and the possibility of computer rooms be a place which increases students learning
