RESUMO

The implantation of the SUS system has come to help materializing the Brazilian health policy that in 1994 received a strengthening with the education of the first teams of the Family Health Strategy (ESF). This strategy has the proposal of re-structuring the basic care according to the SUS principles since its attention is focused on the family allowing the team to have a broader sight of the health-disease process. With the insertion of buccal health in the ESF, new professionals have been introduced in the referred strategy, among them, the Dentist Surgeon (CD), the Buccal Health Assistant (ASB) and the Buccal Health Technician (TSB). Considering this context, the current study has the objective of developing an assessment technology of the buccal health technicians education for performance in the Family Health Strategy in Araguaína (TO), by following the principles that guide the health policy in force. It is about a field research of exploratory and descriptive nature, developed over four stages, being each stage subsidized by the previous one. The utilized methodology has its origin in the University of North Caroline. This study had the participation of four professors from UNIVALI as experts in the subject and 13 professionals from Araguaína (teachers of the TSB course at the ETSUS/TO and/or dentist surgeons of the ESF) like judges. Initially, the Tree Diagram was constructed where the knowledge needed for the TSB education for performing in the ESF was decomposed and ranked hierarchicaly into 29 components. Afterwards, validation of the knowledge proposed by the judges was performed when most of the components received grade 4 for high importance and grade 5 for very high importance. Among the knowledge topics that received better evaluation, average 5, the following stand out: welcome, accessibility, integrated actions, promotion, education, team work, planning, bioethics and confidentiality. Based on this analysis, a proposal was made of an instrument to be applied with the graduates of the ETSUS/TO for assessment of the TSB courses. It will possible verifying the need or not to include new knowledge in the courses of TSBs education aiming at remodelling the practices with the perspective of graduating more prepared professionals for an efficient work in the Buccal Health Teams of the ESF and contributing directly with the SUS consolidation
