RESUMO

The dithiocarbimates are structurally related to the dithiocarbamates, but are less studied. This work describes the syntheses of zinc(II), platinum(II) and gold(III) complexes with dithiocarbimates anions and their characterization by elemental analyses, conductance measurements, infrared, electronic, and NMR spectroscopies. Some substances were also characterized by of X-ray diffraction. Six zinc complexes of the general formulae: [Zn(RSO2N=CS2]2- (R=CH3CH2, C6H5, 4-FC6H4, 4-ClC6H4, 4-BrC6H4, 4-IC6H4) were synthesized and isolated as tetraphenylphosphonium salts; six platinum complexes of the general formulae: [Pt(RSO2N=CS2]2- with the same R groups, were synthesized and isolated as tetrabutylammonium salts; and four gold complexes of the general formulae: [Au(RSO2N=CS2]- (R= C6H5, 4-H3C6H4, 2-CH3C6H4, 4-ClC6H4) were synthesized and isolated as potassium salts. Elemental analyses were consistent with the proposed formulae. Spectroscopies data show the coordination of the metals by the sulfur atoms of the dithiocarbimate anions. Xray diffraction data of confirm a tetrahedral geometry around the zinc atom and a square planar geometry around the platinum atom. The antifungal ctivity of potassium dithiocarbimates and zinc(II), platinum(II) complexes (R = CH2CH3, C6H5, 4-FC6H4,4-BrC6H4) were evaluated in vitro against Colletotrichum gloeosporioides, isolated from papaya tissues. The platinum complexes were inactive and the potassium dithiocarbimates and the zinc complexes were active at 1000 ppm.
