Stress ocupacional em uma amostra de professores do ensino médio da rede particular de educação

RESUMO

In a general way, there are so many studies about stress because it is frequently related to the development of many physical and emotional diseases. This study intends to verify the facts and/or stressful events that a high school teacher faces due to carrying on his/her tasks. It also investigates which are the main symptoms of stress while evidencing commonly used coping. The research was carried on14 high school teachers in a private school in Cassilândia MS. The data that we have looked at in this study were collected through semi-structural individual interviews divided like that: 1) Professionals identification questionnaire; 2) Teachers occupational stress questionnaire; 3) List of general signs which indicates stress; 4) application of Inventário de Sintomas de Stress Para Adultos (ISSL-LIPP) and then they were analyzed in quantity and quality ways. The results pointed out the existence of occupational stress in the teachers of the sample (71,4%) and the main symptoms can be seen in physical aspects (50%). It also appeared in psychological aspects but in a small amount (21,4%). This study also detected a higher level of stress in teachers that have been working inside classrooms for 20 years or more. It was not possible to establish a direct relation in the presence of stress when related to gender, age group and number of children. Trough the collected and analyzed data, it was verified that to give continuity to the studies related to this professional category and to propose actions that prevent or minimize the impacts that this category is suffering is considered a necessary activity to achieve a healthier community.
