RESUMO

This study aimed at examining the general occupational stress and coping strategies in professionals from the health area of Serviço de Atendimento Móvel de Urgência (SAMU) which develops its activities in the mobile work setting. It has shown the stress on four approaches: biochemical, psychological, sociological and mixed, recognizing its complexity and multidimensionality. It comes through a research for qualitative and quantitative nature, in a descriptive exploratory way. As tools for data collection were used: interview and inventory about overruns from stress on training, which were directed at doctors, nurses, nursing technicians and drivers / assistance. Results showed that despite recognizing the potentially stressful factors relating to their activities, those surveyed showed no negative trigger occupational stress. The main factors potentially stressful identified were: 1. Work in the "line of shooting" 2. Work with accident and contamination risks, 3. Population ill-informed about the service of SAMU, 4. Lack of data to reach the address of the patient to being served, 5.Traffic jam, 6. Low reward / recognition, 7. Impotence in front of the deaths, 8. Disabilities in the health system (which indicates and / or receives the patient). The coping strategies of most used were those of confrontation, those with more conditions for the physical and mental health.
