Spatial relationship of the genital microflora to the vaginal epithelium of femal rats: transmission electron microscopy.

RESUMO
Bacterial associations with vaginal epithelium were examined by transmission electron microscopy in castrate rats before and after estrogen treatment. Bacteria were associated with keratinized epithelium and appeared to be most abundant on exfoliated vaginal cells.
