RESUMO

This work realizes the social-economical and environmental diagnostics of the hydrographic basin oat the Sumé dam, located at the semi-arid of Paraiba State, in Brazil. The development of this study, initially, shows a historic about the occupation of the soils at the referred basin, as well about the politics implemented, focus specially the combat to the drought and the acquaintance with them. Employ images of satellite TM-Landsat-5 for mapping use of soils, and questionnaires for the social-economical and environmental diagnostics. At the analysis and discussion of data, from the referred diagnostic, evaluates the situation of the hydric recourses, the intensity of use. of the soils, relates the potentialities and limitations of the semiarid ecosystem and makes inferences about the capacity of support of the ecosystem. According to this evaluation, it proposes, for the sector of electric energy and fueI, alternatives based on the utilization of renewable energy, such as the production of biodiesel, from the castor oil and the utilization of solar energy photovoltaic. Finally, sighting subsidize public politics and programs of environmental education show guided axis for integrative management of natural resources, at inclusion socioecologic perspective
