Sistemas integrados de gestão: um estudo de caso sobre as motivações e benefícios da implantação de um ERP em duas empresas pernambucanas

RESUMO

Integrated management systems - ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) are software packages that enable the organizations to cope with information necessities in varied processes. They impose the culture of vision of business-oriented processes and also provoke changes in the companies that adopt them, and in information technology management as well. Due to its characteristics of construction and functioning, the most spread out agreement regarding the ERP is that its practices will improve the enterprise performance if its strategies are adequately lined up to businesses and if efficiently contribute to the supply of competent operational applications and an infrastructure of sound management. This study presents the impacts of the ERP systems use in the organizations, and is aimed at understanding what factors motivated and what benefits were produced by the implantation of ERP systems in business organizations. A case study was carried out in two companies from Pernambuco, supported by interactive methodology as interpretative and qualitative proposal, being classified as exploratory research, and regardless to the procedures, as survey. Twelve strategical managers of the Suppliment, Manufacture, Sales and Distribution, Finances, Accounting and IT areas were interviewed. A questionnaire with both open and closed questions was also applied, compiled from the managerss views, to the ERP systems users and specialist technicians of the business processes. The collected and interpreted information indicated that the motivations for ERP adoption were concentrated in the necessity of the organizacional control, processes standardization, management of businesses growth and legislation attendance. Questions like adoption of the best practices incorporated with the use of the ERP system, and cost-benefit relationship of adoption were considered as events of intensity and moderate significance. The ERP planning of implementation was seen as a technical process endowed with maturity and endorsement in the specific existing literature in the area. The results also pointed out that the ERP system use brought benefits and contributions for the business growth in the researched companies. Moreover, an important research result was to demonstrate the relevance and validity of the interactive methodology adoption in the conduction of researches of this nature
