RESUMO

The search for technological alternatives that could optimize the productive processes, increase the quality, make flexible and reduce the production costs of the milk has promoted the directing of the agricultural researches toward the computer science field, which is another way to generating efficient scientific answers therefore partly reducing the subjective decisions in the development of physical arrangements. In this sense, considering the milk production under feedlot system, this study was carried out to identify, collect and organize specific knowledge, as well as to develop a decision supporting system implemented with low-cost computation resources. So, there was a need for the availability of methods that would help the decision process concerning to the implantation of new organizational models that would be synthetic and competitive. The referential procedure for physical arrangement of the facilities was structured by the methods Systematic Layout Planning and MAG, that consist of establishing phases where the facilities and activities are combined and appraised on a qualitative and quantitative way. For operationalization of the variables, some systematized methodologies and programs for the management of information on physical agroindustry arrangements were used. For the development of the expert system, the programming language C++ was used. This programming language was used by the development tools Borland C++ Builder 6, type Rapid Application Development and Microsoft Visual Studio NET 2003, by using the library AutoCAD Runtime Extension (ObjectARX) and applying the graphic interface of AutoCAD (Autodesk, 2006). The system was developed with a graphic interface and consists of: the initial window, for inserting the number of animals to be confined; flux evaluation window, in order to perform a qualitative evaluation of the modifier factors; the program window, that allows to exhibit the facilities in terms of lateral dimensions, the location sector recommended, and the orientation of the predominant wind; location window that exhibits a list with the facilities under a preferential order of insertion into the physical arrangement; message area, where the communication of the system with the user occurs through the generation rules; and the working area represented by Auto CAD screen, where the facilities are inserted and their characteristics may be changed by using the commands available by the Auto CAD graphic-interface (Autodesk, 2006). The developed system Expert system for supporting the layout elaboration to free stalltype feedlot made possible to determine the necessary facilities, to create productive sectors, to indicate the location recommended to each facility group, to determine the preferential insertion order of the facilities into the physical arrangement, to evaluate the characteristics of the fluxes between facilities, to create either a proposal that would be more personalized and appropriate to the specific proposals of a project or using the automatic definitions of the system, to numerically analyze the importance of the fluxes, to dimension the area necessary to each facility as a function of the number of animals undergoing productive phase, and to numerically analyze the distance for implantation of each facility pair.
