RESUMO

This research reports the study of deposition parameters of V AD (Vapor -phase Axial Deposition) silica-germanium and their correlation with structural properties. Characterization studies were conducted by small-angle X-ray scattering (SAXS), X-ray difftaction (XRD), scanning electronic microscopy (SEM), and X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy (XRF). The results show a strong correlation of deposition parameters and prefonn properties, particularly for H2/O2 ratios, and surface deposition temperatures. The deposition parameters also affect the electronic density fluctuation of porous preform in the range of micron and sub-micron order. Germania crystalline phase was observed in the soot prefonn. After consolidation process, the crystalline phase disappeared but nano-order "clusters" belonging to gennania-rich domains were detected by anomalous small angle scattering using synchrotron radiation. The understanding of deposition parameters and their correlation with silica-gennania properties opens relevant perspectives to develop new properties in silica-germania applied to an ultra-low attenuation optical fiber and non-linear optical devices
