RESUMO

The urethane acrylate oligomers are utilized in the formulation of radiation curable coatings for optical fibers. In this work were synthesized two types of the urethane acrylate oligomers with the purpose to develop coating with long "useful" lifetime and to evaluate the thermal degradation process of cured films based on this oligomers. These resins are UV photocurable compounds constitued of oligomers, multifunctional monomers, photoinitiator and photoinhibitor. The degradation process evaluation of the resins was rpaliznl for accelerated aging that it was simulated throught isothermal exposures of the films in the elevated temperatures The degradation was monitored throught mechanical and thermal analysis. The collected data were utilized in determining lifetime predictions Arrhenius plats derived from several sets of datas yielded lifetime of the resins. The estimated lifetime were: 16 years for R-TD films, 25 years For R-TDA films, 14 years for R-MD films and 28 years for R-MDA films. The hindered phenol and hindered amine (HALS) combination used in the stabilization of the films was promising in thr stabilization of urethane acrylate resins, because the stabilized films presented lifetime longer than non-stabilized films It was also realized test for avaluating the adhesion in the vitreo-substract. The adhesion was considered reasonable and it was observed that the adhesion is associated to cure of the superficial layer that is in contact with substract and it is related with functionality and types of monomers, photoinitiator and oligomers in the fomulations
