RESUMO

This research work develops new analysis techniques and synthesis for the conception of microwaves filters with elliptic or pseudo-elliptic frequency response. The application of these high frequency filters is in the current systems of wireless communications. The fast development of these systems presents challenges, in filters design, such as, considering the following features: compact circuits, with high selectivity, low losses and reduced cost. For such, this research starts look at the basic concepts of the theory of electric filters. To follow the synthesis of the elliptic functions is shown using the transformed variable Z. After that, studies on transmission lines, circuits with coupled resonators and elliptic and pseudo-elliptic filters in distributed parameters were made. From those concepts is propose new configurations of pseudo-elliptic filters based on a new pentagonal resonator presented in this research. These new pseudo-elliptic filters were built and characterized in the bandpass configuration, in second, third and fourth order. The pseudo-elliptic bandpass filters of third and fourth order reaches good agreement between simulated and measured results.
