RESUMO

The present work looked for to foment an ethnographic analysis of the remaining maroon community Serrote do Gado Brabo, located in the municipal district of SÃo Bento do Una - PE. In this perspective, we took as guiding points, firstly a study of the their history and collective memory before this group s formation process, verifying beyond the influence of their ancestral myths, the strategies and diacritics signs which they use to affirm their ethnic identity. Soon after, we approached the territorial subject, as well as their territoriality conceptions and territorialization found in that community. Last, we verified the existent migratory processes in the group, mainly for the city of SÃo Paulo, denominated âreturn migrationâ. As strategy of research the participant observation was accomplished in the six ranches which compose that community, besides theoretical-methodological analysis about to know/make ethnographic at the present time. Taking such parameters as essential in this research, we looked for to produce an ethnography which contemplates that community s organizational situation, based in which the own members of the group demonstrate as being important for their current representativety, territorial legitimacy and ethnic identity
