RESUMO

The expansion of agriculture will promote the incorporation of new areas to the productive process and in this process, areas with drainage problems will have the possibility to be used. For the proper utilization of these areas, the correct sizing of drainage systems is important. For the rational sizing in a nonpermanent scheme, it is necessary to determine the minimum rate of drawdown to be provided by the drains, which depends on the sensitivity of each culture. Thus, this study aimed to determine the effect of different speeds to lower the groundwater level in different cuts of Brachiaria brizantha cv. Marandu. The experiment was conducted in 64 lysimeters in a randomized block design, arranged in a factorial (3 x 5 + 1) x 4, being 3 cut times, 5 speeds of lowering the water table, a control that does not suffered stress by excess moisture, with four replications. Analysis of samples of Brachiaria brizantha cv. Marandu showed no statistically significant difference for most treatments, except for Total Wet Mass and Total Dry Mass, in the third cut time, for the source of variation speed. At the third cut time, only the speed 1 did not differ statistically from control.
