Segmentação interativa do ventriculo esquerdo em sequencias de imagens de ressonancia magnetica (Cine MR)

RESUMO
Magnetic Resonance Images have been utilized as an important resource for analysis of the cardiac cycle and disease detection. However, to obtaio quantitative information that enable some of the possible analysis, it is necessary a previous process to structures segmentation in the images. Performing this task manual1y is a much tedious work, especially relative to images of cine MR. These exams usually consist of a large number of images, representing cuts obtained in different periods of the cardiac cyc1e. In this work we developed an interactive system (or a semi-automatic system) for segmenting the left ventric1e in sequences of MR images. For this purpose we uSed the Watershed segmentation method and image analysis procedures based on Mathematical Morphology. The developed system was evaluated by performing segmentation tests in a ten exams set. The quantitative results were compared through analysis of intra-operator and inter-operators variations and manual segmentation. The performed analysis resulted in a significant evaluation showing the potentiality of the proposed system and providing considerations about its use in a c1inical routine
