Young people, the leisure and the public politcs have been studied from different approaches and goals. The surrender of the scientific production in Physical Education presented in this study makes possible an interesting contact with this diversity, showing the growth of the researches and the visibility of these themes, as well as the lack of others studies, once most of them are not conclusive. The study has started from the following question: how the leisure, in its different cultural dimensions, demonstrates itself as social practice of young people from different social-economic contexts in public spaces in Caçador-SC? For that, the metodology adopted started from observations, questionaries e focal group in order to help us to analyze the data through the tematic axis. Among the aspects evidenced in the research, are highlighted the way of being of young people in the city and how they use the space. The two squares have faithful public, but different in their way of acting and thinking, reason why one of them was discarded on the passing of the process because it doesnt attend to the goals of the research. Young people, in a general way, recognize whats satisfatory in terms of infrastructure and know how to point the fails and wishes of changing, but these arent included in the elaboration processes of public politics intended to the leisure in the city. Public authorities gave the first steps toward to the necessary changing. Nowadays, much of what is done (or will) takes the risk of not getting successful, such in many other cities of the country.
