RESUMO
With a focus on school management as a paradigm of democratic governance of the school, this qualitative research report using a descriptive / exploratory approach has information on the studied phenomenon which was recorded, analyzed, classified and interpreted, with the overall objective to examine management practices in school management in two public high schools located in the Distrito Federal. Was tried also to achieve the following objectives: identify the procedures adopted by the Regional Board of Education (DRET) in monitoring and promoting educational management; analyze whether the school environment of the two schools surveyed is the area of promotion of democratic management, identifying the problem-solving strategies within the school environment and identify ways of involving various segments of the school community in implementing the Political Pedagogical Project. The information was collected through the use of semi structured interview used in the collection of testimonies of DRET and school managers. The information obtained from a sample of the teachers has been through a questionnaire. The literature review served as the foundation and strengthened arguments that associate the power structure and organization of work in the schools surveyed, who are still hostages of unsystematic action, with procedures that are still far from democratic management of education.
