RESUMO

In this dissertation is analyzed the female participation in Rural Workers Trade Union of Feira de Santana since 1989 to 2002, by observing strategies of struggle and mobilization of those women. This study intends to demonstrate relations between Gender and power in political disputes of that entity, by analyzing the process of conquest of the trade union leadership by female rural workers and the changes occurred since then- like the creation of the Women Secretary, an institutionalized place to attend to specific needs of rural women. It is intended to reflect on the importance of female insertion into the trade union management- in view of the outstanding presence of directorships held by Rural Workers since 1989, as well as the recognition of matters related to the rights of female rural workers.
