RESUMO

This dissertation deals with three themes related to the Universal Church Kingdom of God. The first one concerns the ritual system of this church, which is analyzed having the drama metaphor as a starting point. Another theme is the healing. ItÂs analysis is done in two levels: the ritual level, and then we try to comprehend the efficacy of the healing and itÂs link to the possession trances suffered inside the researched temples. Another level is the one that analyses the individual experiences of healing, trying to comprehend the manner by which a religious healing system treats the afflictions, and also the way the end of these afflictions was achieved in the faithfulÂs life
