RESUMO

This dissertation deals with the social representations of nature and environment in children‟s literature that were built in Brazil in the beginning of the 20th century, when the production of writing texts for children started without exclusive didactic goal. It was just for fun. The authors, whose books are analyzed, were those who distinguished themselves among young readers. They still have been edited nowadays, and they are: Tales Castanho de Andrade and Monteiro Lobato. Based on these authors‟ works, this paper examines the idea of nature and environment transmitted to Brazilian children.
