RESUMO

Funcional and substitutable stimuli constitute stimulus equivalence classes, which emergence is defined by coherent responses patterns in tests of reflexivity, symmetry and transitivity. Recently, some interest is observed in establishment what variables can affect reorgnization of stimulus equivalence classes. In this series of articles, it was tried to add data to bibliography regarding to this theme. The Chapter 1 present an studies set analysis relating to modification of stimulus equivalence classes. It is disscussed the controversial results obtained in this theme and also are suggested some research questions to future studies. The Chapter 2 describes an experiment lead to investigate the effect of the number of reversed relations in reorganization of stimulus equivalence classes. It was observed that all the twenty-eight participantes reorganized these classes. The results permit to observe that some methodological characteristics may have contributed to reorganization of stimulus equivalence classes to all participants. One of them is the number of comparison stimuli presented. The Chapter 3 describes an experiment that was a replication of the experimental procedure, described in the former chapter, employed in Group 1. In this experiment was manipulated the number of comparison stimuli used. Even with this manipulation thirteen of the fourteen participants reorganized the classes according to the modifications. Therefore, this variable manipulation do not produced effect in reorganizaton of classes in the applied procedure. In conclusion, in the present study, stimulus equivalence classes can be reorganized and the number of reversed relations and number of comparison stimuli do not affected this process.
