RESUMO

The present work is made up of three chapters that had as a main objective, the preparation of niobim oxide catalysts (Nb2O5) and activated carbon (AC), both impregnated with 1, 5 and 10% of tin in mass. The first chapter presents a bibliographical review on the catalytic processes, catalysts, tin and its applications, environmental pollution, and adsorption and oxidative processes. In the second part of the work, Sn0/Nb2O5 composites were prepared (1, 5 and 10% in mass). These composites were characterized by temperature programmed reduction (TPR), X Ray Diffraction (XRD), scanning electronic microscopy (SEM), infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and X Ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy (XPS). After the characterization phase, adsorption and oxidation tests of the organic composition were done: methylene blue (MB) and quinoline (QN). In the third part of the work, Sn0/CA composites were prepared (1, 5 and 10% in mass); these materials were characterized by temperature programmed reduction (TPR), X Ray Diffraction (XRD), scanning electronic microscopy (SEM), MÃssbauer spectroscopy and specific surface area (BET). The results revealed that the Sn0/Nb2O5 and Sn0/CA composites presented good adsorption and oxidation capacity of the organic compounds: MB and QN.
