RESUMO

This research was done at the Federal Agrotechnic School of Barbacena, Federal Agrotechnic School of Uberlândia, Federal Educational Technology Center of Bambui and Federal Educational Technology Center of Uberaba with seven physical education teachers and 550 students to establish the relationship between belief and action of the physical education teachers. The instruments used to data collection basis were semi-structured interviews with the teachers, which ones reported their beliefs, the physical education annual planning requested to the teachers, demographic information questionnaire and a structured questionnaire to the students, based on interviews of the teachers beliefs. Closing the informations collect, the physical education classes were filmed and supplementary notes were taked. The data analysis was done by the information comparison between the teachers beliefs and their actions registered through video camera. The students questionnaire, the demographic questionnaire and the annual planning served to justify the actions or the beliefs of the teachers. Results indicated that beliefs and actions were congruent in six factors from eight circumstances investigated. Therefore, the teachers beliefs partly were associated to their actions during the physical education classes.
