RESUMO

The adoption of micro hydrographic basin as units of environmental studies hás made possible to analyze them in holistic way, as demand this type of research. In this case, this dissertation discusses studies in the area of the reservoir Tanque Grande, located in the city of Guarulhos, São Paulo State, Brazil. For in such a way, it was selected the micro hydrographic basin Córrego dos Veados, one of five contributing micro hydrographic basin in the formation of this important water source. The studies focused on the relationship of current vegetation and its comparison with the physical, social and economic environment in the search of parameters that characterized this micro hydrographic basin of the environmental point of view, selecting 4 compartments due to differences in vegetation cover. With regard to the physical environment, the study area is composed of metamorphic rocks (metapelitic rocks and banded iron formation), making relief units classified as hills, with high declivity, with regard to the use and occupation of the ground it has areas of rural buildings, subsistence crops and pastures, as well as the use of the reservoir as leisure forms of recreation (fishing and swimming). The reached results point to a current degradation of the micro hydrographic basin Córrego dos Veados; the subtraction of the vegetal covering, through deforestation or fire, causes weakness in the biotic and physical resources. In this sense, the recent proposal of the creation of the APA Cabuçu Tanque Grande occurs at opport.une moment, since the reflexes are negative record in both biotic resources, through the invasion of the area for exotic species and commitment of biodiversity; and in the physical environment with the formation of ravines, landslides and silting of the reservoir. It is believed, in such a way, that this now finished dissertation represents a useful tool in the environmental assessment of urban areas, to provide grants to appropriate public policy that addresses not only the classification of the use and occupation of the ground, but also to prioritize restorative and mitigate actions of the environment.
