RESUMO

The study of geomorphology takes place in the geographical science with the aid of other sciences such as geology. In these studies, the relief is a key element in the understanding of the relationship between the physical aspects (lithology, soil, vegetation, hydrography, climate, etc.) and the activities of human beings. Thus, to understand the interfaces of the physical environment, various methods are used, including geomorphological mapping, which serves as a good tool for planning aimed at efficient use of space. Thus, this study proposes the geomorphological classification of the municipality Quaraí-RS-Brazil, by analyzing the different patterns of organization of the landscape and its potential, seeking a relationship between the forms of relief and areas of occurrence of agate and amethyst. The theory adopted in this work proposes the taxonomy of representation in the processes of relief, from a higher taxon represented by morphostructures; and other smaller taxa represented by morphosculptures and the geomorphical facts. From then on, it has as a final product preparation of the geomorphological map of the municipality, using thematic maps that helped in its creation, as well as distribution and relation of points of occurrence of minerals in the municipality. The taxonomic levels were represented using the software Spring and Corel Draw 12 for the cartography of geomorphological phenomenons responsible for the organization of the landscape of the site under study. Finally, it is understood that the geomorphological map, if well used, can be applied in different sectors of the human activities assisting in the occupation and exploitation of space.
