RESUMO

This dissertation intends to discuss the quality of education in Brazil and its possible outcomes on the salary income during the 1990âs, period in which the transformations the country suffered tried to fit its economy in the capitalist productivity and efficiency forms, inside the globalization context. As in the final of this period, although, the wages didnât increase, despite the improvement in the education indexes, some aspects would be avoiding the accomplishment of the human capital theory, that directly links salary income and educational level. The tested hypothesis is that the quality of this education hasnât accompanied its extension. The obtained results have confirmed the importance of the quality of education as factor of wage income increase, suggesting us that the itâs decrease in the recent Brazilianâs teaching expansion contributed to the salaries stagnation, cause it hasnât prepared suitably the workers for the labor market. Otherwise, it also turned clear the weight of the external factors that blocked the wages increase even the education had improved as necessary: the social-economics disparities and the economics conditions of the country in that period.
