RESUMO
The present research attempted to analyze Monumento Horizontal (horizontal monument), the first action of Frente 3 de Fevereiro artistic group in Sao Paulo. Monumento Horizontal transmits several questions, including those that motivated this research: First, Why a horizontal monument, if the monument logic is the verticality? Second, What is horizontality of this work about? Third, Whom this action is talking to, at artistic and political contexts? Fourth, What body is represented in this monument? It is, Which representational policies are playing here? These questions were the starting point for this research and guided the development of this text. From Monumento Horizontal we analyzed the discrimination and exclusion conditions of Afro-Brazilian people and the relation of cultural and post-colonial studies, mainly by thinkers Stuart Hall, Paul Gilroy and Homi Bhabha, including their contribution to art theory and critics, specially their contribution to debate about recognition policies
