RESUMO
The purpose of this work is to present a triangulation method for the external surface reconstruction of 3D objects defined by a sequence of two-dimensional cross sections. Most of the algorithms proposed in the literature suffer from some limitations. Incorrect results can be obtained when the contours in two sucessive slices are very different. In the same way, the presence of multiple contours in a slice leads to ambiguities in defining the correct links. The algorithm proposed in this work provides a solution to these problems and it was implemented and applied to the reconstruction of the external surface of complex shaped objects. Quantitative measurements were accurately estimated from the reconstructed objects, such as surface area and volume, in order to validate the reconstruction method proposed
