RESUMO

This work analyses the competitive potential of the production area and proposes a management model to improve Embraer?s productive process. It explains the importance of practicing strategic management in order to compete in a global economy, characterizid by dynamic competitiveness standards, and emphasizes that a manufacturing company, searching for competitive advantages, must develop strategic vision with focus on production area. This issue becomes evident in the case Embraer - the major representative of the brazilian aeronautical industry - which needs to improve its productive flow in order to give a better response to regional aviation market. This market has good business opportunities that need to be explored so that Embraer can capitalize resources and accelerate its growth. Investigation about the Company current production management model reveals a system with a lot of waste which negatively affects the response time, the most valued competitive criteria of the market. Academic literature review provides a theoretical support to improve Embraer s production management methods, revealing the Lean Manufacturing System - an elimination of wastes system - and other systems that may be integrated with it. Based on this research, this work proposes a production management hibrid model to regional aviation aircrafts families, evaluating its consistency through case study. Results reveals the effectiveness of the proposed model, allowing to suggest its implementation on whole Embraer s productive system
