RESUMO

This research investigated the contributions the drawing of Mathematics Modeling Projects to the Education of Mathematics Teachers. The research was carried out in a qualitative methodological approach, starting from the development of three Mathematics Modeling Projects. The theoretical and bibliographical research considered works related to Mathematics Modeling, Mathematics Education in College, specifically Linear Algebra Teaching and Working Projects. The documentary research was limited to the analysis of didactic books about Linear Algebra used in Mathematics College Degree courses of some universities. The field research was conducted with students in the 3rd term of the Mathematics College Degree course of Pereira de Freitas College, in Ipatinga MG, during the second semester of the school year of 2010. The data were collected from the records of the field research draw up by observing the Mathematics Modeling Projects of the groups and by applying three questionnaires. The Final Considerations point that the development of Mathematics Modeling Projects contributes to form critical and reflective teachers, offering the challenge of putting together the mathematics theory and the classroom practice, through the applications of Mathematics, and also contributes to turn the classroom into a proper environment to the collective generation and construction of knowledge, identified by interactions, dialogues, researches and experiences exchanged among the participants.
