PROGRAMAS DE ESCOLA PROMOTORA DE SAÚDE: UM ESTUDO COM PROFISSIONAIS

RESUMO

This essay talks about the concept of Health Promoting School and its application through programs realized by professionals who develop different functions. Its main purpose was to investigate the knowledge and application of the concept of Health Promoting School. It investigated the projects and/or activities related to health; the concepts of health and health promotion in schools, the study participants; the register and evaluation procedures of these programs by the school and the difficulties found to introduce these projects. The research was realized in four schools from São Bernardo do Campo, São Paulo, two of them are public and the other two, private. There were fourteen professionals in total who were interviewed, and they all work in Fundamental Education II. These professionals were chosen by the school direction due to the projects and/or activities they develop in health promotion. To collect the information, social-demographic questionnaires and interviews were used. The information treatment used Bardin content analysis. Science and Physical Education teachers were the majority in the elaboration and execution of the projects. The most developed transversal themes were: nutrition and sports practice, followed by disease prevention. They didnt present any involvement with other areas from the school community, and the individual or multi-discipline projects prevailed. The activities in the schools which were studied are mainly directed at prevention area. The projects, in general, are divided and developed by professionals who are mobilized by the thematic that mobilizes them. The motivation and reward are, in general, very personal. The biggest noted difficulties were the lack of capacitating courses and the community participation, too. Systematized evaluations, as proposed in the official documentations, are not usual in these schools. Therefore, we can conclude that the Health Promoting School conceptions and their applications, in the studied schools, were not verified in this study. We might suggest that the Health Psychology would participate in the formation and qualification of the professionals who coordinate projects and health promotion activities in the schools of Fundamental Education.(AU)
